With open source GenAI software, anyone will be able to create videos or audio of politicians doing or saying pretty much anything, whether it’s a fake robocall from Joe Biden, or a fake image of Donald Trump getting arrested.

This will create an immense challenge for democracies.

Using cryptography to ensure provenance is an important part of the solution, but it won’t scale alone. We will need blockchains and Chainlink oracles to let anyone publicly commit to what they are asserting to be true. This will also prevent people from changing their story without being held accountable. And then on top of that, we will need identity and reputation systems to create the right incentives.

All these use cases require the Chainlink platform.

After having worked with Swift for many years on how traditional finance can integrate with blockchain technology, our latest collaboration with them and over ten of the largest financial institutions and market infrastructures shows that institutional appetite for on-chain finance via real world asset tokenization is real, and that a secure interoperability standard (CCIP) is the correct path for both bringing trillions in assets on-chain and orchestrating cross-chain commerce across both private bank chains and public chains.

We were also able to show that existing systems like the widely used Swift messaging network can trigger on-chain transactions using CCIP. The ability to use your existing bank systems to integrate with hundreds of private/bank or public/DeFi chains, through only one integration, is a big unlock for the entire global financial industry to flow into the blockchain industry.

In a new results report, Swift, #Chainlink, and more than a dozen of the largest financial institutions and market infrastructure providers successfully demonstrated a secure and scalable way to transfer tokenized assets cross-chain using CCIP.

Key results:
• Connected existing Swift infrastructure to multiple blockchains via CCIP
• Facilitated tokenized asset transfers between public and private blockchains
• Executed multiple token transfers across three use cases for on-chain assets

From the report: “The collaboration between Swift, Chainlink, and the financial community represents significant progress towards enabling interoperability between traditional financial systems and emerging blockchain networks … By leveraging existing Swift infrastructure and Chainlink CCIP, the collaboration demonstrated the ability to transfer tokenised value efficiently and securely across public and private blockchains, using standardised messaging formats and proven business processes.”
