⚔️ 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: The Bank of England confirms their new RTGS will be introduced “in the next few months.”

This system currently settles £755 BILLION PER DAY.

The new system, which includes “a new core ledger” and “greater interoperability,” is likely to use $QNT and Overledger as its core infrastructure.

The report also discusses new experiments around wCBDC, synchronization, and interoperability with global ledgers (via Project Agorá).

The overhaul of the financial system doesn’t seem to be slowing down...

And $QNT appears to be in the middle of it all.

#𝟏 👉 NEW BIG BANK CONFIRMATION

SATP contributor Venkatraman Ramakrishna confirmed his IBM Research team implemented SATP in a series of 2021 experiments exploring the potential of a Digital Euro.

The proof-of-concept they built interoperated the Bank of France (using Hyperledger Fabric) and HSBC (using R3 Corda). 🔥

#𝟐 👉 $QNT IMPLEMENTATION

SATP Co-chair and Quant Network PM Claire Facer confirmed Quant Head of Innovation Luke Riley is working on a custom implementation of SATP.

Presumably this will run via Overledger.

#𝟑 👉 POTENTIAL CHINESE ADOPTION

Peter Liu from Huawei reported Chinese operators are raising money to build dedicated, nationwide networks to support data exchange and transactions.

Whitepapers stating these commitments were recently published by China Mobile and China Unicom.

Peter sees this as an opportunity for further implementation of SATP.

#𝟒 👉 INTEROPERATING THE CLOUD

SETL CEO Anthony Culligan was a contributor at the meeting (see video attached).

Some key points he discussed:

• Coming from traditional finance, Anthony sees a “clear demand” and “massive opportunity” for this type of protocol as soon as its ready.
• In the “vast majority of cases,” Culligan thinks enterprises will use SATP to interoperate cloud-based ledgers before they use it for DLTs.
• He’s very encouraged by the work that’s been done, and has agreed to be a text contributor to the ‘Use Case’ document.

#𝟓 👉 NEW DOCUMENT DUE DATES

• The ‘Architecture’ & ‘Core’ document due dates have been extended to January 2025.
• The ‘Use Case’ document due date has been extended to July 2025.

The IETF are the kingmakers of technical internet standards, and SATP is the most important protocol nobody knows about.
