Most people don’t fail because they set goals too high.

They fail because they never build a PLAN to achieve them.

A goal without structure is just something you hope happens.

Here are 7 steps to turn a goal into an actionable plan:

1. Identify the goal.
Be specific.

“I want to make more money” isn’t a goal.

“I want to increase my income by $25,000 over the next 12 months” gives you something measurable to attack.

You need to know exactly what you’re chasing.

2. Set a deadline for achievement.
A goal without a deadline can always be pushed to tomorrow.

Give yourself a date.

The deadline creates urgency and forces you to determine what needs to happen monthly, weekly, and eventually DAILY.

3. List the benefits.
Why does achieving this actually matter?

More freedom?
Less stress?
More time with family?
Financial security?
Personal growth?

Your WHY becomes extremely important when motivation disappears.

4. List the obstacles you’ll need to overcome.
Don’t pretend the road will be easy.

What could stop you?

Time?
Money?
Fear?
Lack of discipline?
Bad habits?
Your environment?

Identify the problems BEFORE they become excuses.

5. List the skills and knowledge required.
Ask yourself:

“What do I need to become better at to accomplish this?”

Maybe you need to learn sales.
Improve your communication.
Become better with money.
Develop discipline.
Learn a new technical skill.

Sometimes achieving the goal requires becoming a different version of yourself.

6. Identify the people and groups you need to work with.
You don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Who has already accomplished what you’re trying to accomplish?

Find mentors.
Build relationships.
Join the right communities.
Surround yourself with people moving in the same direction.

Your environment matters.

7. Develop a PLAN OF ACTION.

This is where goals become execution.

Break the big goal into:

→ Yearly targets
→ Monthly targets
→ Weekly targets
→ Daily actions

Then put those actions on your calendar.

Because ultimately…

Your goals aren’t achieved by what you SAY you want.

They’re achieved by what you’re willing to consistently DO.

Identify it.
Plan it.
Execute it.
Repeat.
