It only generates maximum share until they move to your left then you have to move to their left and they move again to your left and eventually you both end up next to each other NEAR the center of the beach. By staying put in the Prime location dead center of beach without the tit for tat they may never move which is obviously optimal for you long term but if they do move they will never be the best/closest option for over half the beach they will always have a smaller portion of the beach the most they can do is 49.999999% and you will always have 50.000001% so over the long run you always win and they always lose. Obviously there are assumptions all around but I think what matters is that the store does not keep a backstock of $15k bird toys in the event some rich person randomly comes in demanding one. They told her they could order its twin for $15k or get her a cheaper one for $2k. I’m assuming they don’t get many customers willing to pay $15k for a bird toy, I doubt there are that many more out there even willing to spend the $2k so they probably don’t keep that version in stock either, although it’s slightly more plausible.
