So @Coinbase halted $XRP trading along major exchanges? No problem 😘 Remember, #XRP ATH was achieved before being listed on Coinbase, if you know what i mean 😉 bisous 🚀
Today, we are taking a significant step forward, within our statutory authority, to bring America’s capital markets into the digital age by facilitating onchain trading of certain tokenized stocks through the "Innovation Exemption." 🇺🇸
🚨 TODAY: The SEC issued an order granting temporary, conditional exemptive relief to Tokenized Securities Venues from the definition of “exchange” in the Exchange Act to trade tokenized NMS stock using innovative permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools.
My thanks go to everyone who put so much effort into the CLARITY Act— across the Administration, Congress, investors, and innovators. Our collective conviction that America must continue to lead is indispensable.
I have been unequivocal: with or without legislation, we will act decisively within the SEC’s statutory authority to deliver certainty for American investors and for the entrepreneurs shaping our technological future.
Stay tuned.
Don’t forget - Ripple and XRP stand on settled ground. The 2023 federal Court ruling established XRP is not a security.
And in March the SEC and CFTC issued a joint interpretation naming XRP a digital commodity. SEC Chairman Atkins and a CFTC Chairman Selig understand these markets. We expect future rulemaking from both agencies to continue to set out clear rules of the road.
1/ This one stings. Our team gave everything we had to get the Clarity Act across the finish line. So did most of the industry. This was an opportunity bigger than Ripple or one company - we did this for the industry, for consumers and to cement the US’s position as the crypto capital of the world and as a leader in the future of finance. Ultimately, consumers and U.S. competitiveness got left behind.
2/ A post mortem needs to be done on why this failed (more from me on that in the days ahead). The politics of the democrats (the anti-crypto army) was elevated over good policy.
3/ There is still reason for optimism for crypto in the United States. Now, the SEC, under Chair Atkins, and the CFTC, under Chair Selig, will continue to work hard to issue rules to fill the legislative gap and we will continue to be actively engaged in that rule making process.
4/ Ripple's business has never been stronger — real demand across traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem. A missed vote in Washington doesn't change our momentum, our global footprint, or our customers.
Just a friendly nudge: If we don’t get CLARITY sorted today, the SEC and CFTC will simply bring in the same rules that would have been in the Act anyway. No need to panic or sell up, just HODL! ripple:native
It's now or never for the Clarity Act.
Dems can lock in 120+ negotiated wins: a historic ethics agreement covering the President, VP, Congress & federal judges, plus the certainty consumers and this industry need.
To get there, Democrats need to join us in voting yes at 2:15.
EXCLUSIVE: Stablecoin payments startup Velocity raises $10M from @Ripple, @Circle and @Visa, extending its Series A to $48M at a $200M valuation, as financial giants back infrastructure connecting stablecoins to existing payment rails.
This bill isn't just a compromise…it's the product of real, substantive trades policymakers made to get here.
I said this many months ago: perfect can't be the enemy of good…
and let's be clear: those trades weren't small. This isn't a deal Senators should be ‘settling for’ — it's a deal that they should stand behind.
Senate: the world is watching and voters are watching. Now is the time to vote yes.
Democrats secured more than 100 changes to the Clarity Act, including amendments to self-custody rights, a best execution requirement, and a new Office of the Retail Commodity Advocate written into the Clarity Act. If this bill fails, those protections vanish with it, and Democrats will have no one to blame for that outcome but themselves.
The cloture vote on the CLARITY Act is tomorrow.
This isn’t a vote about politics. It's about the millions of Americans and business owners who use crypto to invest, save, and cut down on costs.
Every Senator needs to know it.
Tomorrow, my colleagues have a choice to make: American leadership, real consumer protections, and giving law enforcement the tools they need to address illicit finance, or drive the digital asset industry overseas, leaving consumers vulnerable, and sidelining American leadership knowing full well that no other country is capable of regulating this industry as well as the United States. The choice really is that clear. The Clarity Act is right in front of us and this moment won’t come along again for years. Let’s take the win and get this done.
