“Special districts deliver the water, fire protection, parks and open space Californians count on every day, and they run on local dollars that voters approve at the ballot box,” said Neil McCormick, CEO, California Special Districts Association. “When a majority of a community votes to protect its own watershed or fund its own fire crews, that decision should count."

Yes, goats are part of California’s wildfire-prevention toolkit.
CSDA supported AB 187, a newly signed law that preserves a workable framework for prescribed grazing through 2028, helping special districts continue using herds without facing cost-prohibitive wage rules.
Goats easily clear dense brush and dry ladder fuels in steep, rocky terrain where machinery cannot operate. This creates vital firebreaks to protect nearby communities and keeps a proven, low-tech fire prevention tool on the front lines.
Camarillo Health Care District was featured in the September/October edition of the @CSDAdistricts magazine for its Pedaling the Planet Program, which won Innovative Program of the Year in the Small Districts category. Read the story at https://t.co/zwwH8RatJZ
