@LCPS_CTAE 6th graders @HPMS_Official dove into historical cryptography with signal flags & cipher wheels—decoding secret messages in teams! Despite the rain, indoor collaboration made it even better! Then came Morse Code, Pigpen, & Caesar Ciphers!🧠💬
5th graders got to try out the new micro:bits provided by the CS Dept and loved it! @AlgorithmChef helped us code them to play rock, paper, scissors and train an AI model to tell the difference between physical movements using the micro:bit’s accelerometer. @csforlcps
Today at Waxpool Elem, 5th graders took the role of rover programmers and created codes for their @Ozobot to navigate a grid of Mars. Using information from “Mission Command,” Ss had to test their codes and then send them to @NASA for verification. All of the 5Cs were on display!
🌟 Learning Spotlight! 🌟 Our History 6 students are blending the past with the future by using their computer science skills to program Root Robots! 🤖 They’ve recreated the epic journey of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. 🚀📜 #EdTech#STEM#InnovationInEducation#ROARasONE
We had an amazing time with our first Trashion Show on Friday! Thank you to our guest judges, our brave teacher models, our student creators, staff organizers, and everyone who donated recycled items. It was so fun to see our Comets SHINE with this project. 🤩
Today at the Think Big Space, 2nd graders from Evergreen Mill participated in a livestream lesson that was broadcast to 2 other elementary schools across the county! With the help of @AlgorithmChef, they learned how to use Machine Learning w/ AutoDraw to identify mystery animals.
Kindergarteners visited the lab today! They learned how to use Ozoblockly on their Chromebooks to code an Ozobot to correctly identify coins. 🪙 @csforlcps
We love seeing our kindergarten students engaged in computer science! Thanks for helping Rooty the Butterfly identify the different phases of its life cycle.
Kinder Coders to the rescue! Using our 5cs to demonstrate our knowledge of the life cycle of a butterfly by coding our iRobot! We love coding in Kinder ❤️ @TimSparbanie#teamthompson
K-1 Ts spent the afternoon with @AlgorithmChef & @regratz87 rocking out to a @Metallica themed PD that had them Entering the Coding Sandman & Riding the Lightning to help spark CS integration in @SSGSlcps. From @Ozobot to @makeymakey to an air guitar competition, this PD rocked!
History came alive today at the @awscloud Think Big Space when 2nd graders from Evergreen Mill Elementary worked with @AbbySpessard to create floats for famous Americans. After building their floats, they coded Root Robots to drive them in a small parade.
5th graders used @LEGO_Education to create a record player! They had a blast exploring how the speed of the motor affects the sound of the music! @csforlcps
For the 1st time ever, the @awscloud Think Big Space @JLSMS_Official hosted a livestream lesson to educate Ss on how data bias impacts AI. 3 different middle schools joined the 45 minute lesson! Special thanks to @MathFraser, @AlgorithmChef and @MsKPoland for running the event.
March brings two awesome chances to explore tech with your students!
📅 March 26 - International Data Center Day
🤖 March 28 - Day of AI
We've curated engaging, grade-friendly lessons to make these topics fun & easy—no need to teach them on the exact day!

K & 2nd grade Ss @HorizonElem learned about Machine Learning from @AlgorithmChef. K Ss used @Google Autodraw to identify living & nonliving things at the park while 2nd grade used Teachable Machine to create a model that identified if an animal migrates or hibernates.
The Science team from @Smarts_Mill came to the @awscloud Think Big Space @JLSMS_Official to learn about data collection and analysis using @ThePocketLab. Grades 6-8 teachers learned new skills and collaborated on how the resources could be incorporated into their lessons.
