If I had to choose a highlight it would probably be @paddymac_maths - I love sessions that are on a really specific topic, and he’s convinced me to change how I introduce e.

@RobJLow @DavidKButlerUoA But this does mean you have to be a bit careful about using puzzles in the classroom, because then the purpose isn’t just entertainment. So there’s a separate skill of shifting students to think about the general case without losing the joy of the original puzzle.

@RobJLow @DavidKButlerUoA From an entertainment point of view, I quite like puzzles where you can choose the level you want to engage at. Quick answer, feel good, move on? Prove the general case? Find an elegant solution? Use it as a starting point to explore a deeper structure? All options.

@mathforge @Whitehughes @mrsouthernmaths Today’s big learning point for me has been that I am useless at organising my life without a school bell that tells me when to move. I think I managed to be on time to one thing today and late to at least 4.

@LearningMaths Wow, that wasn’t what I expected. When I first tried to picture this I found the black line incredibly distracting. Was slightly easier to picture as an isosceles triangle being pushed down and out by some force on the top vertex (and then you can just remove the top part)

@gs_bangalore Oh dear, sorry for repeating it! I find it interesting that we both set up the puzzle in the same way though, by giving the area of a small square and asking for the larger one.
