Hesketh Golf Club 🏴
James O.F. Morris (1885)
A short drive from Birkdale, Hesketh is the oldest club in town. It’s fun, in a Tenacious D kind of way. There’s plenty of good stuff here and the finishing six-hole stretch is superb.
Royal Birkdale 🏴
George Lowe (1889)
Hawtree & Taylor (1931)
Birkdale is brilliant - a network of holes inside a network of dunes. Flanked on both sides by the mounds, between them like corridors, each one feels like an amphitheater. The Open Championship returns here in July.
Royal Lytham & St Annes 🏴
George Lowe (1886) | Harry Colt (1919)
There is a certain mystique about Royal Lytham. A classic out-and-back routing, with a par 3 opener, it has hosted #TheOpenChampionship eleven times.
Royal Liverpool 🏴
R. Chambers & G. Morris • 1869
Harry Colt • 1924
The Open Championship has been played thirteen times here and the history can be felt. Hoylake teaches us that eclectic topography, with towering dunes, is not a requirement for great golf.
Sunningdale (Old) 🏴
Willie Park Jr. • 1900
Sixty miles from the nearest coastline, in Berkshire, is where you’ll find the No. 1 course in England (according to Golf Digest.) After spending a day there, it’s easy to see why.
A truly astounding image. A street in Macau with the Grand Lisboa Casino looming in the background. Photograph by Paul Tsui, National Geographic travel photographer of the year.’ The future is now.
@menace0528 Finau not accurate off the tee enough. Todd to short of a hitter. The other two guys you listed are the two favorites. My picks are Hovland, Fleetwood, and Berger.
@LordSides B+ analogy. But man, has cowherd gotten obnoxious. The reason the Steelers dont make it to SB as much is bc their defense hasn’t been good for years.
@LordSides Do you think Big Ben makes more from endorsements than Cam? There’s more to football than football. It’s a business. Don’t be an old fart, Sides.
