The session was moderated by Ms. Rakhee Bakshee, Communication Adviser, Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi, and brought together experts from media, academia and science communication, including Dr. Manas Pratim Das, Programme Executive, All India Radio, Kolkata; Prof. T. V. Venkateswaran, Visiting Professor, IISER Mohali; Dr. Manish Mohan Gore, Scientist D and Head, SMCC, CSIR-NIScPR, New Delhi; Prof. Ujjwal Anu Chowdhury, Pro Vice Chancellor, Techno India University, Kolkata; and Prof. Dr. Mahul Brahma, Dean, School of Media, Bhawanipur Global Campus, Kolkata.

@CSIR_NPL is organising a 2-day training programme on “Force, Torque and Hardness Metrology” from September 16–17, 2026, under the CSIR-Integrated Skill Initiative.
The programme will provide participants with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the calibration of force, torque, and hardness parameters using Force, Torque, and Hardness Standard machines.
Participants will gain expertise in:
- The verification of testing machines using force proving instruments calibrated in accordance with IS & ASTM Standards.
- Direct methods for assessing the functional performance of hardness testing machines.
- Indirect methods for evaluating the overall operation and accuracy of hardness testing machines.
