But according to your theory, if it was done such way that nobody even notice, is that really even a problem? That means even if someone find a way to exploit it, they can only do it to the extent so small that it won’t even affect the entire Zcash ecosystem in any meaningful way?

Ok how do you think US government became one of the largest holder of Bitcoin? They literally confiscated it. Besides they don’t even need to physically confiscated. They can just flag certain UTXOs, tag it as “not compliant” and force exchanges to discriminate it. Without privacy, there’s no true fungibility, and can’t be SoV. Every Bitcoin you own will come with its entire history fully visible. And say if it has a history of going through wallets authority deemed as “dodgy” or “terrorist financing”, “tax evaded coin” or any other reason they can come up. There will be “clean Bitcoin” vs “dirty Bitcoin” and it will be treated differently.

@DGMD22 Zcash went through 3 different pool migration, from sprout to Sapling to Orchard, and every migration is effectively an audit. It’s a 10 years old coin and surely if it has been exploited, it’d be so obvious by now.
