Still not good enough to start up front in a world cup according to Popovic.
We need a new coach asap after the Asian Cup regardless of whether we win it or not. Can't be fumbling the next golden generation under that clown
Oh look a competent journalist asking Tuchel a tactical question and getting a tactical breakdown of his midfield structure. But apparently Tony Popovic wonโt answer tactical questions, so our journalists donโt push & write articles about comedians or some shit instead. Levels.
The Ugly - Tony Popovic
Coaches have to have belief in what they do. Ange talks about it, SAF and Mourinho's books talk about needing to have 100% certainty in what you do to succeed as a manager, so to an extent I understand Tony Popovic commitment to his system and style, no matter than cost.
However, there is absolutely Zero chance you could consistently do the complete opposite of what fans, media, your own players, opposition expect without being on Social Media somewhere and seeing that feedback - so the man clearly has a burner or reviews Socials feedback as part of the in game preparation. That isn't belief in your system, team or players - that is arrogance in thinking you know better than everyone else. That is why he signed his kids to his A-League clubs, it is why, right or wrong, he started one of his best friends in Footballs sons in two of our biggest ever games - it is ego and that he thinks he knows better than everyone else.
That same arrogance is why he consistently takes the contrarian approach when answering media questions - in his starting lineups, in the squad selection, in basically everything this cycle. He will portray it as confidence in his process, but when it doesn't work he shows 0 signs of adapting from game to game, he is unable to make tactical changes within a game, based on the feedback or input of his players, or the external feedback that he seems generally aware of in the press - the coaching team around him clearly either doesn't challenge him on the system, or they all follow the same belief and you will not get better or change with that environment.
I can deal with losing, I can deal with Haram as our reality to an extent - I struggle with the constant, unrelenting feeling that it is a guy who thinks he knows better than everyone and actively damages the team out of personal spite.
