Sejumlah laporan menyebut Wali Kota Teheran, Alireza Zakani, mengumumkan penundaan pemakaman kenegaraan Pemimpin Tertinggi Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, hingga akhir Juni atau awal Juli.

Namun, informasi mengenai wafatnya Khamenei dalam serangan gabungan AS–Israel pada 28 Februari tersebut belum dapat diverifikasi secara independen dan tidak sesuai dengan laporan resmi yang diketahui secara luas.

Dalam keterangan yang dikutip media Iran, penundaan dilakukan untuk menyesuaikan masa berkabung keagamaan di bulan Muharram. Pemakaman yang semula direncanakan awal Juni disebut akan digeser ke periode 26 Juni–5 Juli, dengan rencana pelibatan jutaan pelayat.

Otoritas Iran juga disebut telah membentuk panitia khusus untuk mempersiapkan prosesi kenegaraan, meski detail resmi dan kepastian agenda masih belum jelas.
