@BeneathThePaint You couldn’t be more wrong about Braden. He played at an extremely high level. He repeatedly dragged their double teams out of plays, creating 4 on 3 situations, leading to numerous open 3s. If they shoot 35% from 3, they win. He played exactly like a 1st team AA.

@castrovince @DerekVanRiper @MLB Maybe we should blame the hitters & the development of bat speed! Hitters are measurably better today than 25 years ago. Pitchers didn’t need to throw as hard to get outs in the past. E.g. decline in complete games is probably more due to hitter advances than pitcher capacity.

Yes - average fastball velocity was lower in the past. So was avg. sprint speed in football. Athletic qualities improve. (2)
