You expect Metallica to make a stadium explode. You expect the drums to hit hard, the guitars to come in loud, and thousands of people to lose themselves in the noise. But when James Hetfield begins playing the opening notes of “Nothing Else Matters,” something completely different happens. The noise seems to fall away, and the stadium starts listening.

That moment at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on June 19, 2026, is striking precisely because of how little it needs. There is no rush to overwhelm the audience. The guitar is clean and familiar, the melody moves patiently, and the band allows the song to breathe.
