@DesignerSmithy@WillTaylorr0 Again, fair assessment on Saudi - I’d argue that state money should not be involved in the club. If we’re talking about individual capital is it any worse than an American investor?
Globalism should irk you - it’s the underlying cause of the ills experienced
@DesignerSmithy@WillTaylorr0 And in a roundabout way, you rail against Terry for his politics when his politics appear more “protectionist” and in favour of localism over globalism.
@DesignerSmithy@WillTaylorr0 I’m all for local owners, RC is not the poster boy for that though.
I understand the notion of risk management on financial backing. But we now live in a globalised cash nexus with liquid capital and movement of people - you cannot stop this in the current model of capitalism
@DesignerSmithy@WillTaylorr0 Fair assessment - but increasingly uncommon as globalisation occurs.
Gone are the days of local businessman with a real grounding in town & club culture… that’s sad.
Terry at least is British and understands British club culture. That is ultimately better than a US owner
@Tyler7Smith VAR centralises and strips control off pitch to a central governing body who have purposely made convoluted rules to keep the football fans in a perpetual state of confusion.
The infrastructure needs clearing out. It’s killing the game.
@Jamie_Hudson_@NathanRef96 There’s a player in Goodwin, he’s a natural finisher - I wouldn’t be averse to signing him, think he’s a 10-15 goals a season player.
@Tyler7Smith@olibroom Bishop is an interesting one, clearly a quality player but injury prone & hasn’t performed strongly this season + a high salary.
To me that points towards takeover confirmed - if we were scraping around on a further reduced Cowling budget we’d cut losses.
@Upthecolu He dropped tools for 2nd half of the season - expect that same form if he stays.
£500-700k + hefty add ons
It’s important we get big egos and bad attitudes out the club, we aren’t a stepping stone anymore.
@Tyler7Smith Any money is good money when it comes to the sale of Tovide.
More importantly, he’s out the picture, allowing us to focus on the rebuild of the attacking line.
@barsidepodcast Wouldn’t be surprised if Read left also.
Cowley intent for next season seems to be around physical athleticism - Payne/Perry/Read is a physically small trio.
That is unless we have the budget to have those 3 + 2 Ali Smith types.
Joliffe released
Harvey loaned to NL
@barsidepodcast Expecting some big names to move on in what should be a transitional summer (depending on ownership):
Lisbie, Tovide, Bishop, Edwards all to move on
The longer the ownership situation remains up in the air, the less chance we have of success next season.
Next 3 weeks are vital - get the deal done. #colu
