The step regression of the UK's underclass is just so depressing.
I am 51 and as a football obsessed kid in the late 70s, 80s and 90s, I witnessed a clear reduction in the racist bullshit in football.
Genuine, serious progression.
Now, I'm not naive enough to think that the racists went away or changed their views, but it became an unacceptable trait within the game and things changed so much for the better.
Now, in 2026, with the rise of Reform UK and Ruprecht's Restore, we see these vile characters, openly espousing racism again.
Taking pride in their bigotry. ☹️
Where did we go so wrong, as a nation?
@CUFCSpec@WillTaylorr0 It's not globalism that irks me, it's specifically the tactic of Saudi sportswashing to launder their reputation. JT's personality/ethics are sometimes controversial, but I can't get on board with with politics that puts someone who looks like my gf in danger for just existing
So not only would we be fronted by the unlikable JT, the money is apparently coming from Saudi? Looks like #ColU are trying to play bad guy bingo. Just waiting for the Donald Trump endorsement next.
@CUFCSpec@WillTaylorr0 A local guy owning the club (RC) are definitely over, but it's what follows next. Terry is a mixed bag in terms of baggage, but his profile is undeniable. IF he is Saudi backed, a less controversial source of money would ultimately be preferred imho
@sarboy22@WillTaylorr0 UK is far from perfect, but at least this country is not currently hanging and suppressing people who simply criticise the government or the royal family, or happen to be gay, or even in many cases just existing as a woman
@WillTaylorr0 As faces of ColU they become a lightning rod for beliefs being attached to the club. Family club Colchester becomes a symbol of sports washing and intolerance to those looking from the outside in. Man City, Newcastle, PSG, even Chelsea all examples of their perceptions changing
@WillTaylorr0 Not sure I said that. I can still acknowledge the club needs new investment, but if that money can't come from local investors or #colu fans, I'd rather it didn't come from a place with a long and current history of bloody and brutal human rights abuses
Hey @UmActuallyShow, in your S11 question about Ted Lasso you stated he joined the "British Premier League", when such a league doesn't exist! It's actually the "English Premier League" as the Football Associations are divided amongst England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ire, & Ireland
Not that it matters because it's L2 and VAR isn't a thing here, but for something I thought was well offside at the time, it might have actually been onside after all (or at the least way closer than I first thought) #colu#ctfc
@lalmoss20 He's already played for Charlton this season apparently so he can't go on loan to anyone else. If he's recalled it's because he's going into the Charlton first team
