@BlueArmyBlog Come to think of it, now you’ve said this I think I recall Hughes downplaying last seasons budget as well. Maybe I’m reading too much into Elliot’s comments.
Not going to lie, as a fan this bit concerns me…
“I think the budget's been probably cut quite a lot from what it was”
We have to get promoted from this league. We have to bring in better quality than what we have/had.
Making cuts now surely reduces our chances.

@dixon221087@benwaugh40 Ok…
“budget has been cut quite a lot” maybe mesne something different to what I’m interpreting. Maybe it doesn’t mean that much. If you know then fair enough.
I simply said it’s a concern as a fan as I hate being in this league. It was one initial tweet, not a focus.
To be clear…
I’m not suggesting we should continue wasting money on a load of absolute dross.
But we need quality. Not a rebuild, just 5 or 6 quality players to give us the edge over everyone else. And quality costs money.
I hope the club backs Elliot. That’s all.

@dixon221087@benwaugh40 Obviously there’s exceptions. But do we want a long term NL project gradually over time?
More often than not the team that spends money on quality and depth has the best chance of getting out of this league quickly.
Hopefully we do enough. We need quality. It’s obvious.
@benwaugh40 It’s not sustainable, but neither is being in the national league. It’s a disaster where we are. I’d rather we put everything into getting back in the EFL, then we can look to being sustainable once we’re EFL again.
History says you need to spend your way out of this league.
@MattIsFantastic Would that be classed as “cut quite a lot” of a big budget?
I suppose it depends on how much “quite a lot” is. To me it reads as more than the wages of a few players, but maybe I’m wrong.
Hopefully it all ends well. We just need to get out of this league, whatever it takes.
@gcarey84 Obviously we need to recruit better, but my concern is cutting the budget will reduce the quality available to us. History tells us clubs that spend at this level get promoted.
It’s so important we get out of this league. We cannot still be a NL club in 12 months time.
@theytdg2@DanCUFC It’s actually a screenshot I took from the BetVictor app. Not anyone’s photograph.
I always reference [source], in this case BetVictor.
Big month ahead now. New coach. New ideas. He’ll need backed in the transfer market
26/27 looks like a glorious opportunity for promotion. Right now our squad isn’t good enough to do that, so recruiting quality over the next month is vital. We need to grab this chance 💙

@bruntonbugle@officialcufc Hughes did a good job in turning round the losing culture
But if ever there was a time to change it, this summer was it.
• good base of a squad in place.
• time left to recruit.
• preseason to coach a new style/system.
But the club must back Elliot in the market for quality
Whatever you think of him, there was a losing culture stinking Brunton Park out for best part of 2 years. He well and truly got rid of that, created a winning mentality and has set foundations for whoever’s next to have a real chance of success.
Thank you Sparky 👏 #cufc 💙
Next season is a glorious opportunity for promotion that we need to grab!
I hope the club isn’t looking at York/Rochdale being out of the picture and simply relaxing and resting on our laurels. Other teams will come back stronger & better - we need to make sure we do too.

This week we need some sort of news/update on what’s going on at @officialcufc with the manager/football staff.
The longer this goes on the more rumours pop up (good & bad), the more anxiety it creates in the fanbase and the more negativity it brings.
