Scientists have discovered that some human blood stem cells can “remember” past inflammation. These cells, called HSC-iM cells, keep long-term changes after infections or inflammatory stress and pass those effects to future immune cells. Researchers also found that these cells increase with age and may raise the risk of blood disorders and cancers like leukemia.
