Welcome to Challney! 💚
Today we're excited to welcome our future September 2026 #ChallneyGentlemen for their Transition Day. We hope you enjoy meeting new friends, trying exciting lessons and discovering your new school.
See you in September! #Transition2026#ChallneyFamily
Incredible parent/carer turnout @ChallneyBoys for our Project 826 (August 2026) launch! We are truly blessed and forever grateful to our 5* community. It takes a village to raise a child @ChilternLT @markmailer
Beautiful rainbow pic @ChallneyBoys captured by Mrs Warren during our morning gate duty followed by a powerful assembly by @MarkMailer4 and @WillLowersonPE. Be Proud. Appreciate the gift. Embrace it. 5* Challney Learners. @ChilternLT
Behaviour Hubs Schools: I’m delighted to announce that 50% of graduated schools have now been inspected by Ofsted.
Of this number (167):
-58% were judged ‘Requires Improvement’ prior to the Behaviour Hubs programme,
-28% ‘Good’
-10% ‘Inadequate’.
Post-graduation, of the 167 schools inspected:
-62% are now ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’
-77% of schools have a Behaviour & Attitudes judgement of ‘Good’
All credit to the lead and partner schools and all their staff for making this happen. And thank you to the advisors and the delivery team for being brilliant.
Last term we decided to focus on teaching behaviour explicitly to our pupils.
We had recently maintained our outstanding grade but felt like behaviour wasn't quite where we wanted it to be. We decided to explicitly teach pupils our values.
This is how it went 🧵
What *is* it about Learning Styles that makes it-seemingly-invulnerable? Because it appeals to an amateur inclination that ‘we’re all different’ so ‘we must learn differently.’ We are, and largely, we don’t. Learning Styles remains junk science.
This is our department's feedback policy if anyone is interested, but the very fact that people are like "what do you do instead" is worrying. Marking is a NOTHING, it's like saying "oh you don't begin your class with a ritual dance, what do you do instead?"
Absolutely loving this from @amymayforrester and @JohnCattEd. Perfect blend of theory, practice and experience. Highly recommended to anyone in or considering a pastoral role.
@fod3 Brilliant. I’ve been waiting for someone to say this after having an Edu book binge over summer and getting stuck in an echo chamber.. Often a bit of a ‘circle jerk’ with many referencing each other. Fully understand the justification for them & consumer choice involved
@OliverRMills Art - Focusing on the output over explicitly teaching procedural knowledge to get there, rich get richer. DT- rarely teaching DT, often poorly conceived ‘craft’ activities at best
