@challies You should already know about the ethical concerns, they're common. I'm on the side that LLMs and diffusion models are at their heart theft/plagiarism of others' creative output. They also waste resources. And that diagram would be easy with Canva etc.
@danitreweek A better schema is whether AI is used to analyse or generate. The editorial role he discusses is all analysis, which is also what non-LLM AI excels at!
@danitreweek@Brent_Hobbs It's crazy this debate is over a title which barely occurs in the NT. Clearly many want to equate shepherds and presbyters, but they should accept that it's a disputable equation. Why not stick to the titles and functions the NT uses? (Because then the role of pastor collapses!)
@brandon_d_smith Aquinas' Summa Theologiea III Q 16 is great on this, but also advises qualifying which nature we're talking about when it's unclear. We don't have to say everything we can, and good theological communication is often about choosing how to say something.
@danitreweek@ErringtonA The AI risk AI isn't AGI, it's things like HR using AI to screen CVs, and call centres replaced with chatbots. AIs at the level of GPT-3/4 will do a lot of harm, and don't need more investment. The question is whether these no-accountability bots will be tolerated.
@danitreweek@ErringtonA Most (all?) of the AI companies aren't even profitable. They have to hype their progress because they need to keep new investments coming in. But we're nowhere near AGI (and as a Christian/mind-body-dualist I don't think we ever will be.)
@danitreweek@haymes_joshua There are quite a few Anglican friends in the group. I appreciate their posts a lot more than the other side of the Pres church. It's a pretty toxic group, I wouldn't want anyone from my church to join. You were wise to leave.
@danitreweek@haymes_joshua Whenever I see things like this I have to assume they're only thinking of sermoning, and not street or other types of preaching. But was shocked to see in the AusPres FB group that some do think women should not be allowed to do street preaching!
@danitreweek I just can't see any Biblical evidence of "pastor" being an office of the church. Elders/overseers shepherd the flock, but that's not all they do. They're confusing office and responsibility, as if the latter is exclusive to the former. Overseers need underlings by definition.
@danitreweek I rarely take Ubers, but I've heard drivers will rate you poorly if you won't talk to them?? Perverse! Definitely should be an option for a no-talking driver, as long as it doesn't cost more...
@danitreweek @GetSingleMinded Sendy is the cheapest, but it's a self hosted service so you'd need someone on the team able to set it up and manage it. It's not difficult, but it could be a little too stressful if it's not in anyone's wheelhouse.
@donnyjkimball Saw these today at Hikone castle. The sign said they were a double-blooming variety. The last of the autumn bloom or the first of the spring? I thought it must have been the last of autumn, but now I'm not so sure..
@JOCT_online In the PDF, the footnote number links (in the body) go to page 1 or 2 rather than to the corresponding footnote itself. The footnote links in the other articles look good, I only noticed it in Ehrett's.
@RevEspinosa@johnpauldickson The OT is also full of verses which discuss possessing and inheriting land. Maybe a dual ownership is the best way to understand this tension? Either way, while we may agree on field gleaning, the full host of things Calvin and the WLC include go far beyond any concept of theft.
