Care Champions urgently Demand Action on forthcoming Blister Pack Costs!

The situation regarding the cost of blister packs for medication is unacceptable and morally reprehensible. Family carers, older individuals, and people with disabilities are being overwhelmed with crippling concerns about these new charges, which many simply cannot afford.

This policy does not just impose a financial burden,.it is a direct assault on the fundamental rights of vulnerable people:

It strips people of their independence and dignity.

It forces devastating choices,Some are now faced with the impossible decision of prioritizing food or heat over the critical safety provided by blister packs, which are essential for preventing dangerous medication errors.

Why are Older People the Government's Perpetual Scapegoat?
This government repeatedly targets the most vulnerable to mask its own systemic failures.

The state's failed housing strategy has led to the shameful demand that older people downsize or take on massively expensive Bridging loans to convert their homes into flats. They are being penalized for a crisis they did not create!

While public money is squandered on excessive, over-priced projects like 'bike sheds' and 'steps,' the government chooses to claw back funds by cutting essential supports for those with the quietest voice.

The failures of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are NOT the responsibility of the older generation & disabled people.

This appalling charge for life saving blister packs must be seen for what it is a cruel, short sighted policy. It must be immediately reversed. The government must STOP punishing the vulnerable and FIX this issue now.

For those of you who haven’t seen this video, I’m reposting it — because people need to understand exactly how far I’ve had to go for my daughter to be seen.

This was October, outside the Rochestown Park Hotel, where Fianna Fáil were having their “think-in.”
Inside, they were talking about Ireland’s future.
Outside, I was fighting for my child’s.

While politicians drank coffee and discussed policies, Katie was in agony, barely able to walk, her hip deteriorating day by day while the State did nothing.

I didn’t confront @MichealMartinTD for drama.
I didn’t do it for attention.
I did it because my daughter is running out of time, and nobody in power was listening.

He agreed to meet with us — but let’s be honest:
It only happened because he was publicly called out in front of journalists.

And for a brief moment, during the presidential elections, there was constant communication.
Emails. Responses. Promises.
I actually thought, maybe this is it — maybe Katie will finally get help.

But when the elections ended?

So did the replies.

Silence.
Nothing.
Not one update on the consultant he claimed was reviewing her case.
Not one ounce of urgency for a girl who cries in pain every single day.
Not one follow-up for a mother who is begging — literally begging — for help.

Do you know what that feels like?

To plead with your government while watching your daughter lose her mobility?
To stretch her legs because there’s no physiotherapy?
To see her miss school, miss life, miss her future — because of political silence?

This isn’t negligence.
This is abandonment.

Katie isn’t waiting for comfort.
She’s waiting for surgery that could save her ability to walk — and the only person who can give her that chance is in Florida: Dr. Paley.

So yes, I am asking again.
I will keep asking until my voice is louder than the silence we’ve been handed.
