I discovered Mostly Walking when they were still in whatever King's Field they played first and watched them for about 2 years straight. Every once in a while YT recs me another video of theirs, and it's kinda nice getting a reminder they are still going 10+ years later.
Tora-san's Shattered Romance (1971) mostly stays in one place, back home with his family, spending lots of time with them and this movie's Madonna he one-sidedly falls in love with, making this the strongest entry since the first movie.
You know what, fuck it, we ball. 50 movies all with the same actor and (almost) under the same director. Time to dive into a Japanese popcultural milestone. One movie a week.
Tora-san's Runaway (1970) ironically starts on a joke that Tora thinks his uncle is dead, with actor Morikawa Shin actually passing away only a year later. Yamada Yoji is back directing all entries from here on out and brings a more bittersweet tone to his failed lead's escapades
Trying to get into Infinity Nikki a year after release is like trying to play a 10 year old MMO. Inpenetrable feeling amounts of mechanics/systems, a menu full of icons constantly screaming there's something new to do. I get anxiety just looking at it.
Earth Defense Force 6 done. Four and a half years after playing the first game, all main ones are finished. Not that big on this entry, every new enemy type was hella annoying.
FF7 Remake fin. Took around as long as the full original game. Have nothing to complain per se, it's gorgeous looking and fun on a moment to moment basis... but it's also permeating a certain soullessness. Tho it does become quite cool once you start storming Shinra HQ.
For roughly a year we'd be watching 1 Ep of Geats each sunday (followed by some Garo). It was kinda nice to experience a show together as it airs for once compared to me usually being 1 to 5 years late to the party when the discourse is already long over.
Been watching Kamen Rider Gavv lately, half way through the show so far. After our short-lived Toku-Group back when loved Geats but didn't vibe with Gotchard, I stopped following the shows. Really slept on this one, it's such a bundle of fun & everyone in it is a nice cozy person
