Good morning. #WritersCommunity I want to share the story behind the painting on the cover of my memoir. Putting this on my cover truly made my book mine.*TW:SA. My story is of survival from childhood sexual abuse and my healing journey back to the safe side of the wall.#freedom
@elchandler Solely on the cover?? Never. However, a few covers have really caught my eye and made me pick up the book in a bookstore or look deeper into it on line.💜📖
@ChrisC_Writes Definitely a home writer. I even need certain spots in my house to remain focused. I have been able to bring my laptop out to my deck. The sound of nature is a pretty good one to write to. I do acknowledge that some great ideas pop into my head when out and about. *Phone notes😉
@EM_RESUS Retired RN here. Coded a good number.More survived, some sadly didn’t.Out in the wild at a grocery store,I saw elderly man pass out.Had someone watch my son in the carriage. No pulse. Several rounds of CPR.Came back.EMS arrived. Got a pacemaker. He was my pt that nite recovering.
@AuthorGFAllen So u may think having to say it’s my memoir would be a quick and easy answer… Because of the sensitive CSA content, I had to answer truthfully about my trauma and assure them the book’s focus is mainly about healing. Always a vulnerable answer to give. Not really elevator talk.
@TheFlyingChild “I know many of us, myself included, have been in a position where the need for peace outweighed the need to live.”
Perfectly said. Me too… Also sending love to survivors. 💔❤️🩹🌸
@Sara_Writes1 Hi Sara. When I wrote my memoir (very sensitive subject) early on, I asked a best friend to read and help edit. She actually read chapters to me at one point so I could experience my story in another fashion. She was an English teacher and helped me in so many ways. Very helpful
@MemoirJoyGirl I journaled most of my life which helped me find the belief that I could finally write a book. Also, my first diary was pink with a tiny key. I even wrote “Kathy only” on the front cover🌸
@MemoirJoyGirl And then, for me, came this great feeling I had not known… freedom. No more secrets. The telling of my truth was so healing. Of course names were all changed to protect everyone. The feedback from other survivors made the bazillion hours of work worth it.
Is yours in print now?
@MemoirJoyGirl Because I like you.💜 I also like that you twlling your truth. I don’t often run into memoir author. (Especially with a sensitive subject) I feel a kinship with you.
@MemoirJoyGirl I am a retired registered nurse after 46 year long career. I journaled all my life. After some nudging, I finally decided to write my memoir in my 60’s. It was released a year before I retired. 🦋
@HurleyMania A powerful and forever friendship. Somehow, I believe their mom’s hearts are warmed to see this… so much healing here, because of a true friend.💜
@MadisonKoviak Yes, but It would definitely be louder. The old typewriter would deter me from the 1am chapters. Wouldn’t want to keep the family awake.📖
