I'll always be grateful for the 2020 championship, but I do think the LeBron James era has largely been a mess.

For the most part, it's felt like eight years of roster turnover, short-term decisions and constant change. The front office has never really managed to build sustained continuity around LeBron.

There has always seemed to be some form of drama, and however it ends, whether this offseason or further down the line, it feels increasingly toxic. It's a shame.

There is no single free agent at 20-25m better than LBJ for next season.

But we likely lose that cap slot in 2027 if/when he retires so it makes it more difficult to build around Luka post LBJ as well.

Has to be about next season AND the future. Not just a myopic 1 season analysis.
