Here are the first observations from the ChaSTE payload onboard Vikram Lander.
ChaSTE (Chandra's Surface Thermophysical Experiment) measures the temperature profile of the lunar topsoil around the pole, to understand the thermal behaviour of the moon's surface. It has a temperature probe equipped with a controlled penetration mechanism capable of reaching a depth of 10 cm beneath the surface. The probe is fitted with 10 individual temperature sensors.
The presented graph illustrates the temperature variations of the lunar surface/near-surface at various depths, as recorded during the probe's penetration. This is the first such profile for the lunar south pole. Detailed observations are underway.

Also implementing power management could improve the current consumtion using esp_now_set_wake_window()
@garyexplains I guess so too. I read sometime ago that the ESP-NOW protocol uses more resources than wifi to maintaining higher data-rate. But Im not sure the mechanism.
@garyexplains So, I guess the speed of ESP-NOW contributes to the higher current consumption.
The solution to the heat is to use 2A LDO in the ESP32 power source.
@garyexplains Yes, ESP-NOW uses the same radio. So I am quite curious too as to why the higher than normal current consumption.
One thing I noticed though is the ESP-NOW data-rate is 50% faster than wifi. AND 100% FASTER than BLE.
I got less than 20ms latency with ESP-now. BLE more than 500ms
@garyexplains 1: I dont think the board Im using matter because I have stated that the 500mA LDO gets very hot with ESP-NOW this doesnt happen with Wifi and BLE. (Actually I use custom board)
2: I tested it sending and receiving same data with Wifi and BLE. (Not idle)

@garyexplains Also, My initial tests show that my 500mA ME6211C33M5G-N LDO regulator gets extremely hot (more than 70 degrees C) when ESP-NOW is working.
This does not happen when both Wifi and BLE is in use.
