Please join us in congratulating Brady Merchant on successfully passing the National Registry Exam for Paramedic. He is our latest member to earn his Paramedic license. Brady became part of CVFD in August 2023 and is presently stationed at Station 185 in the Narrows on A Shift.

Campers also competed in a relay style Firefighter challenge course, showing their skills in hose rolling, dummy carry and of course hose operations. We are honored to have been invited to participate in such an outstanding program.

Crews from Cahaba Valley & North Shelby Fire Dept were able to participate in First Responder Week @ Project Pathfinder Summer Camp hosted by Central Alabama Marines-Council. Campers learned abt Brush Truck 182 & Brush fire operations from the tools used, to hose deployment.

Friday was Recruit School graduation for Landen Berguson @ the Anniston RTC. This was the culminating event for the ten-week program that certifies new FFs. Landen joined CVFD before starting Recruit School & will be returning to A Shift. Join us in congratulating Landen.

Ben Milam is our most recent member to pass the National Registry exam for EMT Basic. He reached this achievement after months of preparation. He joined CVFD in April 2025 and is currently assigned to B Shift at Station 184 in Rex Lake.

APSLA is a nine-month program designed to promote personal growth and leadership development, as well as to build connections across professional lines that would strengthen the statewide public safety fabric and give academy graduates enhanced tools to use in the future.

ADEM’s (Alabama Department of Environmental Management) Annual Burn Ban for Shelby County from May 1, 2025, to October 31, 2025, is now in effect. The ban is in effect due to air quality control standards (Federal Clean Air Act).

The responding agencies worked together seamlessly to locate, treat, and transport the injured hiker, who had been down for several hours before the call to 9-1-1, before severe weather rolled through the area.

Yesterday evening, teams from Cahaba Valley Fire District, @PelhamFire, & Oak Mountain State Park Rangers responded to a call about an injured hiker on the Blue Trail near King’s Chair in Oak Mountain State Park.

We assessed & treated the hiker’s injuries, then devised a plan to get them out of the woods before severe weather rolled through the area. It was decided the best way was to bring the hiker down to Belcher Rd, where an ATV took him an ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
