Spam isn't the problem. AI models are putting content creators out of business because of widespread content theft. If websites can't protect their IP from AI companies, they are nothing more then working for free to train chatbots.
It's unsustainable. The more content creators that go out of business the less content there is to train on and the AI models hit model collapse. Both cannot survive.
@michaloblak@cmuratori Well I hope something gets done. Because the internet can't with it. It's a temporary problem. AI will die or the internet will.
@IGN The only reason to oppose AI disclosures is because you know people don't want AI slop and you want to mislead customers. These strawman arguments are ridiculous.
No, it's not dishonest. You just don't want to accept the truth that the majority of society does not like AI slop.
You think by just hiding the use of generative AI will change that. It won't. It will just make people who are tricked into buying it more upset.
Games that use generative AI and don't include the disclosure are almost always busted. Because the use of generative AI is not a secret. It's pretty obvious when it happens.
That's why Steam has AI disclosures. Rather than forcing customers to find out later that the game they purchased is AI slop, they can just avoid buying it to begin with.
You can't force people to like games they don't like. It doesn't make them dishonest or bad actors. But wanting to eliminate AI disclosures is dishonest.
@TimSweeneyEpic@Filmbot 60% of the country hates AI slop. By definition, that's bipartisan.
AI disclosures have absolutely nothing too do with politics.
@unusual_whales The American dream has zero to do with money. The American dream is about having the freedom to live the way you want to. Some lifestyles require more money and some lifestyles don't.
No, not everything involving AI is slop. Only everything involving generative AI.
I'm just telling you why the majority of the population is not buying your AI slop. You can stick your fingers in your ears and ignore it if you want. But that's not going to make people all of a sudden like AI slop.
So go ahead, dismiss my opinion (that's shared by 60% of the population). It doesn't matter to me. I was just trying to help you out by helping you understand what's going on. You're the one who's choosing to ignore it.
Just because someone doesn't want to buy AI slop doesn't mean they're bad actors. You can't force people to buy your products.
If you don't want people to boycott your products, stop making AI slop.
As long as you make the thing that people don't want, people aren't going to buy it. I don't know why that's so hard to understand. That doesn't make people bad actors.
Not discrediting anything. I'm ignoring it. The term is used all the time in reference to all AI generated content. I'm just explaining to you why you don't understand the debate. You can continue to act ignorant against what people are actually upset about if you want. I just don't think it's productive.
Correct, because in AI model is not alive. It doesn't get inspired. It functions closer to a photocopier.
I've explained this to you in other posts but for some reason you continue to repeat the same arguments without acknowledging the times that these arguments have been refuted.
1. You've been told this repeatedly and for some reason you choose to ignore it. AI tools don't have to be disclosed. Creating things with generative AI does. This isn't about tools. This is about creating with generative AI.
2. That's an excuse. I think you people are much more aggressive with mob mentality. The amount of threats and abuse I've received from AI supporters is rampant.
3. It will be abused how?
4. No other tool is under public scrutiny.
@michaloblak@cmuratori I doubt AI models will be cheap enough for wide use in two years. They already can't make money. They can't subsidize it forever. 99% of the people that use it today won't be able to afford it in a few years from now and we won't have to worry about the AI slop anymore.
Yet you're the one acting unhinged. You told me to f off repeatedly and I've been completely respectful of you even though I think you're a thief.
It's impossible to train an AI model without widespread copyright infringement. So everything produced by generative AI is plagiarism. I think your benefiting from plagiarism. But I'm still being very respectful. You're not and it's making you look like an immature child.
@BareMetalJesco@NewsofthePews@TheMG3D Yes, it is. That's the context in which the term is used 100% of the time. The term AI slop has nothing to do with quality. It's a phrase regarding the source of the work.
The phrase AI slop means anything created with generative AI. I'm sorry if you don't like that but that's the meaning of the phrase.
We're not calling for AI disclosures on low quality AI generative work. We are calling for AI disclosures on all AI generative work. Because it's all AI slop.
Believe it or not, quality is not the only reason to oppose generative AI. Many people oppose it because it's created through widespread copyright infringement.
You're right. AI slop gets considerably lower sales. This happens to be more prevalent on Steam because of the disclosure. But it also affects products across all industries. 3D models that are created with generative AI also don't sell as well. That's because people don't like AI slop.
The only difference between other industries and steam is that they give customers an informed decision not to support it.
The only reason to oppose AI disclosures is if you want to keep the customer in the dark. If you believe it's only the minority that cares, then this shouldn't affect every industry. But it does. Because we are the majority.
