Today, at our Muggiano shipyard, we held the “first steel cut” ceremony for the fourth submarine of the U212NFS (Near Future Submarine) programme for the Italian Navy, managed by OCCAR, in the presence of our General Manager Naval Vessels Division, Eugenio Santagata, U212NFS Programme Manager for OCCAR, Decio Trinca, Rear Admiral Francesco Milazzo, Head of the Submarines & Underwater Dimension Department of the Italian Navy General Staff, and the SVP Integrated Naval Shipyard Riva Trigoso - Muggiano, Antonio Quintano.

This event marks the simultaneous production of 4 submarines, embodying our role as Design Authority and Prime Contractor, confirming our commitment to develop and implement cutting-edge technological solutions, in line with the requirements of the Italian Navy.

The U212NFS submarines feature significant design and systems updates to the previous U212A submarines class, shifting towards increased national development.

The programme addresses also the need to ensure effective surveillance and control of the underwater domain in view of increasingly complex future operational scenarios. The new U212 NFS class will preserve and further enhance national strategic and innovative industrial know-how, delivering platforms capable of supporting the surveillance of maritime communication routes and the broader underwater dimension, including within NATO and EU frameworks. This role is becoming ever more relevant as national interests below the sea surface expand, ranging from seabed resources to underwater energy and communications infrastructure.

SHORT STORY: In 2009, Brigadier General Byamungu stood in Uvira as a commander of the Congolese army. (FARDC) He knew the terrain, the people, and the war. When he attempted to cross to CNDP, the system struck back. and court sentenced him to 20 years. He served 7 Years

Prison did not erase the soldier. It only delayed him.
In 2019, Byamungu broke away and joined M23. The same hills, the same routes, the same unfinished battles called him back. Step by step, the past caught up with the present.

Today Uvira is once again under his control.

Aujourd’hui, Uvira est de nouveau sous son contrôle.
