DCJ has just launched new Practice Standards. We listened to children and families and put them first. The Standards set the highest expectations for upholding the rights of children.

⚖️ New figures show the NSW #youth detention population has fallen by 15% in 12 months. This has been largely driven by a 22% ⬇️ in the number of #Aboriginal boys in detention.
The decline is consistent with the general reduction in youth offending over the past decade.
New data show NSW has the lowest rate of children entering care in Australia and the second lowest for Aboriginal kids. Great work by FACS colleagues and our non-government partners in helping families to keep their children safe at home.

The extraordinary thing about this slide folks, (shown in opening session), is not Aust at top of the table but check out Portugal. Only 3% in foster care and a staggering 97% in institutional care. Hopefully a movement can come from #EUSARF2018 to change this
