@Ze194053@__ihaveopinions@exe_nf Complete AI hardware supply chain only in Taiwan. It means Taiwan makes much more money from ICT products than chips now.
@sterlingfunds@InvestLikeBest Taiwan government still got 6.5% share today because Morris told them: stop selling!!! But I guess the govt needs the money to fund other start-ups
@2big2faill@fammetaX The homework of Taiwan investors is to find out who are doing well recently, Apple? Nvidia? Intel? Tesla? ...etc. And who are their current Taiwan suppliers
@2big2faill@fammetaX Nvidia not only buys chips in Taiwan. It buys lots of other things. It has more than a hundred suppliers/partners in TW bcz AI supply chain are based in TW.
@MillennialZak@fammetaX Tsmc creats this foundry model and ever since, any engineer with good ideas, little money can set up a fabless. No need to have their own factory bcz tsmc can tailor-made chips for them. Before, it's not possible.
@MillennialZak@fammetaX Nvidia has many patents in software, tsmc has many patents in hardware & tsmc alway stays at the top of annual US patent approval list. It's true being a fabless like Nvidia is more profitable. But tsmc is the reason why hundreds of fabless appear, survive & do well today.
@SlimBooter@fammetaX Nvidia doesn't have any knowhow in making chips, not to mention advanced chips. Building fabs only means it still has to buy most advanced chips from tsm/or Samsung while trying to sell its chips to others.
@SlimBooter@fammetaX All big techs used to make their own chips. Now, not possible. The fabs should run 24/7/365 at full capacity to make a profit. You risk burning billions $ on R&D with no success, but your competitors easily get most advanced chips all the time from tsm with much cheaper price.
@bqayman@restitutorII Taiwan offered money like this every 2 years since covid. The real reason to add $315 in 2027 budget is to push parliament (majority opposition) hurry up 2027 budget review. They only approved 2026 budget last week. Election is coming. Citizens want $315 on New Year holiday.
@ChevaucheeN@lyc_aon@OlDirtyBenji_ AI hardware and chips makers in Taiwan have plants all over the world. But their R&D have to be in TW bcz everyone is in TW. Last yr, Intel ex CEO Pat said TW is the place you can have an idea at breakfast, make the prototype at noon & mass production in the evening.
