📢📢The Egyptian Football Association filed a formal complaint with FIFA against the referee of their elimination match against Argentina.

The Egyptians protested a disallowed goal and a potential penalty in their favor right before the buildup to Argentina's third goal.

French referee François Letexier faced heavy criticism from players like Zico and coach Hossam Hassan, who even suggested that Letexier might have had "something to hide."

Consequently, the Egyptian Federation demanded an investigation and called for the referee to be barred from officiating the rest of the World Cup.

Egypt then waited for a response from FIFA.

🗣️ If our second goal had been allowed to stand, Argentina would have been chasing a three-goal deficit. That completely changes the psychology of the match and makes the comeback far more easy

🗣️I've watched the replay several times, and I still struggle to understand the consistency of the VAR intervention. Football is a contact sport, yet that incident wasn't enough to erase a goal that could have changed the course of the game.

🗣️What frustrated me even more was the overall officiating. Argentina committed several reckless tackles throughout the match, but the referee kept allowing play to continue. Challenges that normally result in yellow cards were ignored, and that gave one team far more freedom to play aggressively than the other.

🗣️I'm not taking anything away from Argentina they're a fantastic team but when decisions of this magnitude repeatedly go one way, people will naturally ask questions. At the World Cup, every nation deserves the same standard of officiating. Egypt deserved that consistency, and unfortunately, we didn't get it.
