hey drum corps friends- hoping yโall can help w/ this connection. A very nice Cavalier member on my flight home requested a pic and I didnโt realize it was just a flight connection for him until I got off the plane. Could any current members message me so I can extend an apology?
@CBNS77 (2/2) Blindside-esque facade. the fact that ppl are so up in arms about this being controversial just shows how deep the industry propaganda goes to portray it as โheartwarmingโ and it absolutely makes me sick.
@CBNS77 thank you for articulating this. separating brown/black babies from their homelands via the adoption industry is just yet another form of colonialism being perpetuated.
erasure of culture, no genetic mirroring, brought into hostile/racist environments, all for some feel-good-
being on the instructional side of the activity now, much of the teaching strategies I witnessed as a member are things I file under โthings *NOT* to do/sayโ in my own teaching.
being in both marching arts & adoptee twitter, i often struggle to find some kind of crossover discourse w/ both groups. only thing I can think of is a tech I had who used to use โyouโre adoptedโ to members as an insult for errors ๐ถ
@CNN I love to hear adopted people, especially transracial adopted people, speaking their truth.
Reminder for those of us not adopted or growing up black in white homes: To be good allies our first job is to listen and believe. Then we can understand.
Thank you @Kaepernick7 !!
Good for Colin. Adopting/purchasing a child of color does not make yt ppl immune to being racist.
The comments on this post truly show just how little most ppl know about transracial adoption / want to listen to #adopteevoices but weโll continue to speak out against the industry
Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick accused his White adoptive parents of perpetuating racism in their household in an interview with CBSโ Adriana Diaz https://t.co/mSQXwGDwS9
top moment from this weekendโs audition camp:
auditionee sees vis staff drinking coffee, tries to guess what kind weโre drinking. looks @ mine, โhot coffee.โ I ask โwhatโs in itโ
โhmmโฆdonโt take this the wrong way but u look like u put oat milk in ur coffeeโ
they were correct
finally got around to listening to the @adopteecrossing podcast and WOW. feels really good & validating to hear all these shared experiences re: adoption trauma and how society views adoption in general. thanks so much yโall for making these, canโt wait to keep listening ๐ค
