@WhitneyIssik I’m not interested in your propaganda in my mailbox. I know the UCP is only capable of running scare tactics, and this letter reeks of desperation. Looking forward to @NagwanYYC being our new MLA and a more competent premier in @RachelNotley.
@KKNTeachLearn Because you mentioned driving, I would recommend the day trip to Monterey but would include a stop at Santa Cruz. It’s on the way so you could make a big day of it or add an extra day. The beaches are stunning, you could do the boardwalk, and there is a great book store.
@AlliPatter @milo_phd Just as an aside, that class sounds incredible. Definitely add the music though; it would add such a great level for discussion. Then maybe you can get students to create a playlist for an assignment to show their understanding of a theme
@UTKDeanLoriM @AlliPatter @milo_phd That’s a good idea! I made a playlist for one of my classes, and it was a great way to tie content to the course. But your idea sounds like a lot of fun.
@heymrsbond A text that I like to use is Chaim Potok’s my name is Asher Lev. It is far from perfect because it is after the Holocaust in terms of setting, so that doesn’t aid with your life prior comment. I also use some primary sources about life of Jewish people in Europe prior to.
@ls_gibson We talked about who has the right to protest. Discussed Oka as a comparative. This was with the grade 10s. Focus on public and police response. We also discussed the convoy in contrast with the on to Ottawa trek during the Great Depression.
@nico1e If you do wind up teaching IB economics then I’m happy to help. It had been a while for me too ( took Econ in uni but it had become a bit fuzzy to say the least). Always happy to have another person to bounce ideas off of and share resources.
@nico1e Financial Times has a great selection through the @ft4s program. They are a great resource for readings and assignments to share with students.
@SPBeale@VynersArt This is very clever. Thanks for sharing; i really need to focus on improving the spirit after this year of teaching. Enjoy your well deserved summer holiday.
@DustinMorris13 @ClairesOwner @RachelNotley I agree on the lack of spread in schools. The part that goes undiscussed is the impact of COVID in schools on learning. As students return, and there are + cases, it means a return to online learning for large cohorts. This is incredibly disruptive and largely unaddressed.
