There's a 1971 court case where an airline tried to defend its practice of hiring only female flight attendants because, they claimed, consumers preferred it. (Diaz v. Pan Am. World Airways.) That defense was decisively shot down by the conservative 5th Circuit, 50 YEARS AGO!

In his dissent, Justice Alito calls a law forbidding LGBTQ+ discrimination “a state imposition of its own mandatory interpretation of scripture.” That’s a pretty shocking picture of antidiscrimination law—aimed to impose some kind of state religion, rather than promote equality.
