For those who have not heard, I'm saddened to convey the passing of Professor Lila Gleitman, a champion of cognitive science, a mentor to many of her field’s leaders, and an inspiration to all.

Lila's work on children’s word learning, concepts, and grammar established many of the empirical results and theoretical questions that are central today. She never shied from debate, but leavened every interaction with her unmistakable wit.

@bergelsonlab Does everyone who sends you a draft expect comments? You can say "thanks for the paper!" and then do the review anonymously. Distribution of a draft (arxiv, mailing, side of bus) doesn't remove your option of reviewing anonymously. Doing the review is more helpful for science
