I sort of can’t believe there aren’t more articles trying to break down exactly what adjustments have made Playoff Knicks so much better than the team we saw in the regular season.
I’ve covered the NBA for 8 years. I’ve seen a team admit they ran out of gas and weren’t as ready emotionally and physically for the next series because the previous one was a 7-game grind. It’s not bullshit, my Twitter friend. It’s human nature.
Rafael Devers was traded to the San Francisco Giants for a package centered around Kyle Harrison on June 15, 2025, and now, less than a year later, Rafael Devers is facing Kyle Harrison, who is now a Brewer with a 1.57 ERA in 10 starts. The guy the Red Sox got in return for Harrison is hitting .183.
The players are being penalized for the bookmaker’s incompetence. One may argue that a business can operate in any way it sees fit. However, these are limited and privileged licensees given to operators who treat customers like shit.
@MassGamingComm
Just to add a simple example:
Market is Spurs -5 / Knicks +5.
DraftKings hangs Spurs -4 / Knicks +4.
Your position is that anyone betting Spurs -4 can be banned for “advantage gambling.”
But what’s actually happening here is not the sportsbook protecting the integrity of its house edge. It’s the sportsbook trying to increase that edge by leaving up a bad number, banning anyone sophisticated enough to take the good side, and continuing to offer the worse side to unsophisticated customers betting Knicks +4.
Utterly shameful.
Professional/business services job openings surged — at least while the AI capex boom is going on there isn’t going to be mass labor disruption (kind of by definition):
The perfect playoff format has always been the 4 conference champions + 1 power 4 at large + 1 g6 spot. 2 highest ranked conference champs get byes.
Regular season stays meaningful, conf champ games become the 1st round of the playoffs. Only 2-3 extra games.
But alas…
Stop "picking" teams for a playoff. No committee. No computers. Earn your way in, same as almost every other sports league on earth. 4 major conferences. 4 teams each. 16 teams. Can't finish 4th in your own conference? Move to another conference or stop crying.
Alright usual Winning start to the week and more to be accomplished this wknd
Diamondbacks/Mariners Under 7.5 (-128)
Electing to tack on the extra half after I saw some books have this total at a similar price earlier. Trusting Zac Gallen as always and George Kirby will deliver
@mattkalish You created a GREAT product for both rec and sharp DFS players. Additionally, you created a GREAT sports-betting product solely for RECREATIONAL players. You don’t knowingly book sharp action and pretending you do thru this grandstanding is both pretentious, obtuse, and douchey.
A PARENT’S JOURNEY THROUGH YOUTH SPORTS:
Age 5: “He’s got a cannon.”
Age 6: “He’s the fastest kid out there. Coach said so.”
Age 7: “Rec ball isn’t challenging him anymore.”
Age 8: “We tried out for select. Obviously made it.”
Age 9: “$2,800 for the season. Plus uniforms. Plus tournaments. Plus hotels.”
Age 10: “Cooperstown is basically a family vacation, right?”
Age 11: “He needs a hitting guy. And a pitching guy. And probably a mental performance coach.”
Age 12: “I’m not a crazy sports parent. The OTHER parents are crazy.”
Age 13: “We changed schools. For academics. (And also baseball.)”
Age 14: “Showcases are a requirement at this age.”
Age 15: “Ya his ranking just ticked up. We’re cooking.”
Age 16: “He just needs to get seen by the right school.”
Age 17: “The D1 schools want him to walk on. He’ll earn a spot by sophomore year.”
Age 18: “Okay, D2 is actually really competitive.”
Age 19: “He’s redshirting. Strategic.”
Age 20: “He’s focusing on school now.”
Age 21: “You know what? He’s so much happier.”
Roughly 7% of high schoolers play in college.
About 1.5% of those get drafted.
Less than half of draftees ever play one day in the big leagues.
The odds of our kids going pro are somewhere between “struck by lightning” and “find a $100 in old shorts.”
I love youth sports (all my kids play a bunch of them) just keep a good perspective my friends. ✌️
