@olseaj@NiceanRick@emuse1955 Never mind. I dug a bit more. It was a Mark Hoffman forgery apparently. So completely disregard what I said on that topic. I didn't know it was a Hoffman forgery until just now. So my apologies.
@DChadwickAuthor No, we don't hate you. But we are telling you the truth when we say Mormons are not Christians. It's not intended as rage bait. But truth hurts. We're not going to lie to you
@olseaj@NiceanRick@emuse1955 Fair enough, but the blessing did say that he was to be a seer and revelator. It's pretty hard to look at that and move past it. Since Joseph Smith did both things, then he obviously intended for both. But only one of them happened. That's still an issue
@olseaj@NiceanRick@emuse1955 That doesn't really change anything. It's pretty obvious what Joseph Smith's intention was. So in that scenario, you would think the logical thing would be to just simply prepare the boy for the role. And his place, I would have looked at Brigham Young as an ursurper
@JS_StrngstSldr The difference is Jesus told the truth, your prophet lied. Besides, considering what is said in Joseph Smith-History 1:19, you have no place to complain when we say you're not Christians.
@JS_StrngstSldr You are presupposing your position and circling back to it. You can't just simply affirm that to a non-Mormon, you have to actually give a good argument for it. Also, I can easily apply Revelation 14:6 to Catholicism.
@NiceanRick@emuse1955 Joseph Smith's son definitely would have had reason to think so. The intention as I understand it was for him to be the successor, not Brigham Young
Was it taught by Mormon Prophets? If so, it doesn't really help to wave it off. Adam-God is also not official Mormon doctrine, but that doesn't help since Brigham Young said God revealed it to him. If a prophet says that, resorting to "not official doctrine" feels pretty weak
