We wake up every day as advocates, only to see people over 50 reposting vaping misinformation from random third-party #Facebook accounts — recycled claims that were debunked over a decade ago, like #PopcornLung.
The saddest part? Adults ages 45–64 still have the highest cigarette smoking rates overall in the United States. These are fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, and friends who risk becoming just another statistic in the databases of @CDCgov and @US_FDA — part of the more than 480,000 smoking-related deaths recorded each year.

STUDY: A new review published in the journal Nicotine & Tobacco Research found that 63% of analyses examining vaping and smoking cessation reported a positive association with quitting cigarettes. The review also found daily vaping may better support smoking cessation for adults.

MLA Petrovic has given over power to her friends at @HeartandStroke and allowed them to put forward a bill to ban all flavoured disposables. Last I checked, people still have a voice. If you are from Alberta use to #stopbill208 https://t.co/LUoHflFgWA
“I’ve been fighting for the right to choose harm reduction for over 15 years. Every time it feels like we’re finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel, something comes along to test our loyalty and divide the community. Stay strong, vape community — don’t buy into the noise they’re trying to sell us.”

In 2019, the public was blitzed daily with media quoting or interviewing health experts that wrongly blamed vaping nicotine for what was causing the vaping-related lung injuries.
Conversely, Utah Department of Health based their messages on the evidence.

In what kind of world do health groups use funds from the government to lobby the gov't to banish harm reduction? This needs to be shared, please and thank you.
It occurs to me there is more trumpeting about banning flavoured vapes than quitting smoking. While NGOs are hard at work trying to unjustifiably rid the world of vapes, millions of older adults are still smoking, becoming ill and dying.
Step 1=3packs of 14patches, $210
Step 2=4packs of 14patches, $280
Step 3=1 pack of 14patches, $70
Total = $560 To quit smoking, *if* successful. I stopped smoking w flavoured vapes in 2 wks 10.5 yrs ago. The cost? About $30-40.
@Quit_ClubCA The punch line is that they're so effective that people end up buying multiple packages before they give up on yet another attempt. That's why we see them on the discount rack so often.
"The report, likely to influence future policy, is attacked for anti-scientific opposition to tobacco harm reduction and biased authorship."

Who is on the other side and what might they have said? Just a short walk from NYT HQ is the office of @nyupublichealth's Dr. David Abrams, one of the world's preeminent thinkers in this field. He says "we're blowing the single biggest opportunity" in the history of tobacco.
