Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.
No, AI writing is not “too well-written.” Here are the primary tells of AI prose (no Pangram needed):
-Dreamlike, languid mood, and an inability to tighten the action
-General “SSRI prose” with a certain desaturation, lacking force and vitality
-Shorter paragraphs, often just 2 or 3 sentences
-Little sense of sequence, causality, or a logical progression from one sentence to another
-Conventional sentence structure, albeit an overuse of parallelism
-Figurative language that’s disconnected from the human sensory experience
-Overemphasis on reminiscence and the concept of memory
-Trouble arranging objects in space, especially if they’re moving around
-General lack of long descriptions of places, people, or things
-Inability to do subtext, inability to embed a deeper story in a surface story
-Relative humorlessness
Pretty disheartening that one of the biggest writing forums I've joined is full of people circle jerking AI and Elon Musk. There really is no hope for human creativity, it's just a race to the bottom.
Google DeepMind researcher argues that LLMs can never be conscious, not in 10 years or 100 years.
"Expecting an algorithmic description to instantiate the quality it maps is like expecting the mathematical formula of gravity to physically exert weight."
i can’t get over seeing a braid in space … the simplicity & humanity of it … i could cry … we started in caves and now we’re all the way up there

@kevinxu Personally think you should use college as a time to expand your mind and make friends, not maximize your market value. Major in something that you're passionate about.
My brain only sees those "what if Harry Potter was an 80s fashion movie?" gen AI videos from 2022. Definitely need to see more in motion but my honest DLSS5 feelings are:
- the faces look like flat, static photos of people rather than a sculpted/textured 3D model and i want to see how they look with moving lighting.
- the oblivion before/after comparisons looked better in the "before" sections.
-i hate shareholders yall cant just be happy with your multimillions?
