This feels less like a repeat of the 2022 semi-final and more like a clash between two mature footballing projects.

France possess superior individual quality, but Morocco are no longer the plucky underdogs. They have grown into one of the world's most tactically disciplined sides and have navigated this tournament unbeaten, including eliminating the Netherlands and dismantling Canada. France, meanwhile, have swept aside Sweden and edged Paraguay with a squad overflowing with attacking talent.

The game will likely be decided in 5 key battles.

1. Morocco's compact block vs France's wide overloads
France want Mbappé, Dembélé and Olise isolated against defenders in transition.

Morocco will try to compress the centre, forcing France wide before aggressively doubling up on Mbappé whenever he receives.

If Morocco can deny France open-field transitions, this becomes a far more even contest.

2. Hakimi's attacking runs
Hakimi is Morocco's biggest outlet. Every overlap creates danger.

The problem is that every forward run leaves space behind him for Mbappé to attack. That duel could decide the match.

This is one of the most fascinating tactical matchups of the Round of 32.
