@Jared_Seidel_ like others have said, it’s 6/10 so if you want to get the most out of your coffee, I’d recommend a separate grinder and espresso machine. For the same budget I’d get a Gaggia Classic Evo Pro espresso machine and a DF54 grinder.

in my convos with merchants, i hear how great it would be to have 0 fraud. we could definitely do that but then they’d have 0 sales.

friction to the point where you trust the buyer as much as your friend = 0% conversion. but I do hear you, we need to do more.

Before you needed a team to try a new idea. Now you can prototype many concrete ideas, talk to customers to see if there’s any real PMF, double down on the core problem, and then write a short brief.

survivorship bias story: over coffee this AM, a friend was showing me a mutual fund company quoting insanely high returns over the last 10yrs.

the problem is that these “returns” only isolated for the funds still remaining. the ones killed off are ofc nowhere to be found.

got this text after giving a friend advice before his first week in a new role.

when you start a new role, your first goal isn't to add value it's to not subtract it. aim for zero before you try to be +1.

trying to +1 before you have the context and understand team dynamics is how you become -1 by accident and -1 is the worst position to start from.

i saw this mistake play out at shopify, and it's one of the lessons that stuck with me.

Hating on Wealthsimple for adding prediction markets is pretty dumb. They hope to serve all Canadians, some will bet. If you won’t, don’t use it.

The payments infra behind it is pretty cool though - the concept of escrow and clearing accounts being used at a large scale.
