Can anyone please explain to me this figure -- $500 billion -- that Donald Trump is so obsessively and aggressively fixated on?

Who told him Ukraine has minerals and rare earth metals worth $500 billion? Who said the extraction of all those deposits is economically viable? Where exactly does this figure come from?

Why $500 billion? Why not 600, or 800, or $1 trillion?

What's the calculation?

Why is it that Ukraine, out of a sudden, "owes" exactly $500 billion if, according to Donald Trump's constantly changing figures randomly taken out of thin air, the U.S. spent either $300 billion or $200 billion, or $350 billion while in reality, it appropriated $175 billion, all approved by the U.S. Congress as non-paid assistance to Ukraine in wartime?

Am I missing something here?

I just can't force myself into fathoming a situation when the President of the United States of America -- the City Upon A Hill and the beacon democracy with liberty and justice for all -- just engages himself in outright mafia-style shakedown of a friendly ally in the middle of a terrible war of extermination because he got obsessed with irrational greed and a desire to assert his ego?

I really wanna know.
