Aquests treballen fort.
Police go directly for the circuit breaker panel to avoid being filmed
This post will be in English, because there apparently is a lot of interest in what happened to me yesterday.
I'm a libertarian danish privacy activist and former police officer and I have been doing activism for about 15 years.
I have had a bit of time to think about my arrest and the actions of the masked police that broke down my door - with no prior warning.
The prefece to the story is, that I in a kind of roundabout and (I think) humorous way published "my two favorite numbers" by spelling out a 10 diget and a 8 diget number with letters. I didn't tell what they ment, but they where prime minister Mette Frederiksen's social security and phone number.
I also published a screenshot of me trying to interview Mette Frederiksen on what app, asking her about her wanting to ban encryption (CSA) and introducing mass surveillance via granting the police intelligence services access to all sorts of information (medical journals, social media posts, DNA registers ment for research and so on).
That resulted in me being arrested by armed and masked police breaking down my door without me having any chance of opening it for them.
When the two civilian dressed masked men entered the apparentment one of them immediately went for the circuit breaker panel to shut off the power to my router. They then removed my Google Nest cameras - because they knew that the cameras contains local storage.
That way they could avoid having video of the (in my view) illegal arrest. Only the few moments before the power is cut was filmed. There is video of me asking them for the charges - and them refusing to tell me (which is illegal). But I can't access it, because they took the cameras.
I'm not even sure if that is legal. In Denmark it is (nominally) totally legal to film the police. That way it is possible to know what happened and it's not just your word against there's.
Denmark and the West are moving in the wrong direction, and it makes me sad.
Sempre referents.
Greek City Times published an open letter to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey this week. It reads in part:
"We did not vanish. Greek people did not disappear after the age of myth. Greek culture was not frozen in classical marble. We are still here. For more than 3,000 continuous years, Greek identity has persisted."
The addendum: "Given Hollywood's insistence for minority representation, authenticity and diversity — where are the Greeks, or the Greek Americans in this Greek story?"
The film shot in Greece, with Greek funding, across Greek locations. Not one cast member is Greek.
Hollywood required diversity for every production except this one.
The most fascinating part of the Odyssey to me is the Cretan Lie. When you think of the Odyssey, the first thing you picture is probably Odysseus’s run-ins with famous monsters. The Cyclopes, the Sirens, Scylla, Charybdis, etc. But there’s a reading of the Odyssey in which none of these events took place, and a far more historically intriguing sequence of events emerges.
For one, we don’t actually ‘see’ the run-ins with the monsters take place in the poem. Instead, these details all come from Odysseus’s own narration to the Phaeacians. They’re part of the story he tells them of his travels to convince them to charter a fleet to send him back home to Ithaca.
The problem is, Odysseus is a liar. He lies constantly, any time he pops up in Greek mythology. In fact, in the Odyssey he tells many different people many different versions of what he did after Troy. And why would he tell the Phaeacians the truth? He wouldn’t, of course. He would tell them whatever he thought they wanted to hear.
To me, the most intriguing version of events he tells is to his loyal swine herd. While still in disguise pretending to be a Cretan, Odysseus says that after the sacking of Troy, he led his men on an expedition against the Egyptians. But his expedition failed. His men were all killed or enslaved by the Egyptians. But he threw himself at the Pharaoh’s feet and begged for mercy. He received it, and spent 7 years in Egypt, where he amassed great riches, before being tricked and nearly sold into slavery in Phoenicia, but then surviving a shipwreck and making his way back to Ithaca.
We know the Trojan War would’ve taken place during the same period that the Sea People were sacking their way down the coast of Anatolia (where Troy was) to Egypt, where Ramses III ultimately defeats them. This matches up perfectly with Odysseus’s ‘lie.’
I like to think that Odysseus saved the most honest version of his travels for his most loyal servant (though still cloaked in a lie, as Odysseus’s stories always are). And that Homer has preserved more about the Bronze Age collapse than we’ve ever given him credit for.
