“Let the warning ride forth once more: tyranny is at our door.”

When armed ICE agents can shoot and kill a mother during so-called “immigration enforcement” and face little transparency or accountability, THAT is the warning. When federal power is deployed in our communities through militarized force rather than constitutional restraint, THAT is tyranny knocking.

This is the predictable result of an enforcement apparatus incompatible with constitutional norms. Power exercised through force, secrecy, and weak legal limits predictably produces rights violations and violence. In such systems, constitutional protections become inconveniences.

History shows that tyranny rarely announces itself. It advances gradually and is normalized through bureaucracy, legal exception, and public indifference.

Left unchecked, this is how democratic systems fall.
