Principal of GMC Anantnag has been removed prematurely. One cardiologist has been placed under suspension and attached to Government Medical College Jammu, pending an in-house investigation. Government needs to be judicious to ensure that nobody is harmed without reason, substance and evidence. At this point of time, it is alarming that a Government agency itself has observed something amiss in the system and sought an explanation of facts from a physician but, as of now, someone is only a suspect or an accused. Everybody must be given a fair opportunity to explain his/her position in this matter. If the allegations and the prima facie observations of a Government agency report are substantiated during the investigation, responsibility should be fixed, the guilty should be identified, there should be stringent legal and administrative action and all necessary measures should be initiated / invoked to correct the system. Unwarranted implanting, if true, is an extremely serious offence in which all victims should be adequately compensated by the Government.
