Last week, I was disappointed to learn about the electoral loss of @DustyDeevers, a leading champion of abolition in the Oklahoma Senate and a member of our @AbolitionistFAA Advisory Board, during a three-way Republican primary election.
Interestingly, though, reports continue to confirm that out of the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in attacks against Dusty, none of them tried to use abolition against him, or even discussed it.
So while losing this election is very disheartening, abolitionists across the country can be encouraged by this campaign that abolition was again proven to be a politically viable stance. If attacking Dusty on abolition had offered a path to unseating him, his opponents certainly would have used it, but instead they were forced to center their dishonest attacks on other issues that resonated more with the voters. The fact that his opponents steered away from talking about abolition at all only further indicates that abolition is gaining serious ground among Republican primary voters.
I have seen some Pro-Life leaders celebrating Dusty's loss, insinuating that he lost because of his support for equal protection. But as usual these leaders are only further misleading their supporters. They are in active denial about the rise of abolition among the Christian conservative base and the rejection of the Pro-Life establishment stance against equal protection.
I am thankful for the work of @DustyDeevers during his time in the Oklahoma Senate, and I look forward to seeing how he continues to serve our Lord and our preborn neighbors once his term in office is complete.
If we want to abolish abortion, we have to have the blessing of God, which means His people have to be doing His will His ways for His glory. Anything else is a waste of time.
The Abolitionists are doing what we're doing, not because we ultimately want to achieve some political goal, but because we're seeking the reformation of society and the revival of the church.
We just see reaching this political goal as fruit of that desire.
I read through the statement led by White Rose Resistance (@whiterose_life) affirming the principle of equal protection.
I’m grateful to see that support for equal protection is growing in the conservative movement.
Regarding the statement's language, I appreciate that the Resolved clauses include that “the SAME LAWS protecting born people from violence and destruction...must protect preborn children” and that “we call upon lawmakers...to enact laws that provide FULL AND EQUAL protection under the law from violence and destruction” (emphasis mine).
In the video attached to it, I'm also glad that @sgruber91 so clearly affirms what equal protection really means: "Babies in the womb have the same rights and dignity as babies outside the womb directly after birth or any other time. Therefore, they deserve the same levels of legal protection. And the only way that they can have the same level of legal protection is that anyone who's involved in killing them after it's against the law have to have the same kind of penalties that you would have if you killed an infant. That shouldn't be controversial."
I do have a few questions, though, including why a phrase was inserted into the first Resolved supporting “laws providing a substantially equivalent degree of protection” and exactly what that is supposed to mean. Equal protection is not merely an expression; it is a standard. And the standard is simple: the same justice for the preborn that we demand for the born—because they bear the same image of God. A “substantially equivalent degree of protection” is, by its own wording, something less than equal. And the least of these, as Jesus calls them, deserve no less than equal.
So while I am not ready to sign the statement at this time, I am still encouraged by the progress it reflects in favor of equal protection.
Of course, this statement only goes so far, and I hope anyone reading it will understand that abolition is about more than equal protection. At its core, abolitionism is about glorifying God. So we must not only unite around equal protection, we must also do so as the fruit of repentance before Christ and in obedience to Him. Which means we also must repent for and stop supporting unrighteous bills that violate God’s prohibition against partiality in judgment, that legitimize child sacrifice as healthcare by merely regulating the circumstances of it, and that serve as substitutes distracting our culture from the very justice God demands.
So my hope is that everyone who signs this statement would also keep pressing forward to the genuine article—as some of them already have and are—advocating for actual bills that give preborn children the same protection, with no qualifiers and no substitutes, and doing so on our knees, crying out for God’s mercy and calling out for man’s repentance. Statements have their place, but they must be written into law. May God grant His people the courage to love our preborn neighbors as ourselves—and to prove it by enacting His justice to protect them equally under our laws.
As many Abolitionists have posted, this Declaration from @whiterose_life is entirely inadequate. There is no call for this country to repent of decades of Child Sacrifice. It is completely devoid of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Moreover, there is no call for repentance of the pro-life establishment for their wholly unbiblical response to this evil since 1973.
Americans need to know that we could all sign this Declaration and end abortion tomorrow, but God could still destroy this nation for the innocent blood we have not repented of. Because we are all liable for the Blood Guilt of tolerating the murder of 75+ Million Image Bearers of God.
We Must Repent.
Course Correction is Not Repentance.
Abortion Must Be Abolished.
Four years ago, in addition to failing its own duty, the Supreme Court took away the main excuse every pro-life state had used for why they had not yet abolished abortion. Yet abortion remains legal in those states today.
I guess Roe wasn't what kept abortion legal there. 🤔
He misses some obvious points.
1. The pro-life movement is not pragmatically trying to end abortion. It’s fighting against abolition. They actually fought to stop the abolishment of abortion in many states.
2. Celebrating the pro-life victories? What victories? Abortions are on the rise.
3. The Republican Party has clearly compromised on abortion under this administration. They are more pro-abortion than ever. Pro-abortionists are not threatened by the Party and are completely welcome in it.
Was Moses working within political constraints when ordering Pharaoh to let his people go?
Was David working within political constraints when he fought massive Goliath with only his sling and five smooth stones?
Was Elijah working within political constraints when he prayed to cause drought for three and a half years in judgment of Ahab?
Was Daniel working within political constraints when he continued to seek his God openly despite the commands from Darius?
Was our Lord Jesus Christ working within political constraints when he surrendered to death on the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended to rule as King over heaven and earth?
We serve a God for whom everything is possible. We are part of a church that has abolished countless evils in human history. We do not need to fear our wicked culture. We need to fear God, obey him in season and out of season, and abolish abortion for the glory of his name.
@ThatOtherBoi@AATXNow@TeamTalaricoHQ Anyone with a conscience would also save their spouse over two strangers. It does not make the two strangers less human.
@ThatOtherBoi@AATXNow@TeamTalaricoHQ If it’s not human, what species is it?
Choosing who to save doesn’t tell us who is human. Most people would save their spouse over two strangers. That doesn’t mean the strangers aren’t human.
Pro-life goals:
1. Keep women out of jail at all costs, including the lives of the unborn.
2. Keep women physically safe while they murder.
3. Reduce social stigma for women who murder.
4. Maintain a healthy donation stream.
@ThatOtherBoi@AATXNow@TeamTalaricoHQ “It can’t develop without a womb” is an argument against being stranded in a petri dish, not an argument against being human.
Blastocysts need wombs like premies need NICUs.
Human beings are dependent on their environment. Dropped on the moon as is, we’d both die.
@dejardinant@AATXNow@JacobMillerAHA@TeamTalaricoHQ Because human embryos are our neighbors created in the Image of God and we’re commanded to love the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves. Also killing human beings is wrong.
@ThatOtherBoi@AATXNow@TeamTalaricoHQ Blastocyst is a stage of life all human beings go through. Just because they’re created in a petri dish doesn’t make them less human or worthy of protection. Also humans shouldn’t be created in petri dishes. Just because you can do it, doesn’t mean you should.
@AATXNow The addiction to the quick sugar high of incremental victories has delayed abolition and kept abortion legal for over fifty years. If we want to abolish abortion, we must persistently hold to the biblical standard, learning to be patient and refusing to compromise.
We will not let anyone forget the promise @GregAbbott_TX made to a dying young man named Jeremiah Thomas.
His wish was for Texas to abolish abortion without exception or compromise. He requested that abortion be treated as murder. @GregAbbott_TX responded:
“Your wish is on the Republican Party platform position and that’s what we are going to be pursuing this next legislative session and that’s is outlaw abortion altogether in the state of Texas. And so your wish is granted.”
@GregAbbott_TX, you have failed Jeremiah Thomas, you have failed the most vulnerable citizens of the state of Texas and you have disobeyed God’s command to wield the sword justly. It is now time to do what you are required to do and have promised to do — Abolish Abortion.
@GovKemp must do the same in Georgia.
Many pregnancy center directors have been coached by Pro-Life groups to believe equal protection would shut down their work.
But nothing could be further from the truth.

They aren’t ashamed to say it, @TXAlliance4Life worked hard to put exceptions for women to murder their babies into Texas law, and they do not want those murder exceptions removed.
@TexasGOP are you ready to reject this self-defeating strategy and become abolitionists yet?
