India’s Bureau of Immigration issues an important advisory for FOREIGN NATIONALS and OCI CARDHOLDERS planning to visit the country’s PROTECTED and RESTRICTED AREAS.

Visitors must check whether they require a Protected Area Permit (PAP), Restricted Area Permit (RAP), or both, BEFORE finalising their travel plans.

⚠️ Holding a valid Indian visa or OCI card does NOT automatically exempt visitors from these mandatory permit requirements.

India’s message is clear: Know the rules, obtain the required permissions, and comply with all restrictions before entering sensitive areas.

The advisory also reminds travellers that permits are subject to specific validity, location and purpose conditions, and one permit does not automatically fulfil another requirement.

As a neurosurgeon, let me tell you how frightening this injury actually is - an occipital compound depressed skull fracture treated with a WIDE craniotomy (outer staple line).

What's scary isn't the fracture; it's what's adjacent to the damaged skull. The axe blows (that tree-branch scar at the center) hit right over the posterior superior sagittal sinus, a large vein that runs lengthwise between the 2 cerebral hemispheres and carries blood from the brain to the heart.

Penetrating injuries to the sinus can carry upwards of a 40% morbidity/mortality - partially because a transection of the sinus can be difficult to repair and can result in extreme blood loss, venous air embolism, or thrombosis - all of which can be fatal.

There's scary, and then there's the "you go to elevate the fracture and risk unroofing the sinus, losing 2 liters of blood in a minute" scary.

The surgeons likely had their hands full and did an amazing job. Divine providence called many heroes into service that day. Damn fine work.

Earlier this month, it drew a blank in five Assembly bypolls, suffered defeats in university elections, including DUSU, and took a major hit in Rajasthan’s civic polls.

Meanwhile, the bigger picture remains unchanged:

2013: Congress 1,101 | BJP 891
2017: Congress 807 | BJP 1,365
2024: Congress 654 | BJP 1,588
2026: Congress 663 | BJP 1,818

As Rahul Gandhi rose through the party ranks, the BJP’s Assembly tally more than doubled, while Congress’s fell by over 500 seats.

Instead of building a winning political organisation, Congress has spent much of its energy protesting over “Vote Chori” and targeting constitutional institutions.

The results speak for themselves. You cannot build an electoral alternative by turning every defeat into a protest and every election into a conspiracy.
