What makes a great movie is a great villain. Without epic villains there can be no great story. This is why female centered superhero movies fail, because they have to dumb down the villain(s) for the protagonist to believably beat. That being said, some epic villains from the top of my head are: Daniel day lewis in Gangs of New York, Christoff Waltz in inglorious basterds, Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the lambs and Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. The list is endless, but almost all shit movies start with a shit villain.
