Yesterday, I received a disturbing comment on one of my posts involving a suspect believed to be from the Uzbek community. The comment appeared to be an attempt to intimidate me and discourage me from pursuing certain stories.

After doing some research, I identified an account that appears to belong to Ismaell Omer. Further digging suggests that Omer works, or previously worked, for the @DOCCommish as a correctional officer. He also appears to have held some type of position with the NYPD as a communications technician.

After I publicly questioned him about the disturbing comment, Omer deleted his account.

This same account also appears to have left other disturbing comments on posts related to individuals believed to be from the Uzbek community and stories I have reported on.

Over the past two weeks, I have received numerous messages from people who appear to be backing individuals allegedly involved in criminal activity in the area. These messages have attempted to pressure me into changing my descriptions and intimidate me over my reporting.

However, this particular incident is especially concerning because the account appears to be connected to someone who works, or has worked, in law enforcement. If someone with that background is willing to leave comments like this publicly, it raises serious questions about what else may be going on behind the scenes.

To be clear, my reporting is not directed at the Uzbek community as a whole. My focus is on specific individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activity and those who may be attempting to intimidate people reporting on these issues.

I will not be intimidated or pressured into changing my reporting. My job is to report the facts, follow the evidence, and ask questions, regardless of who may be uncomfortable with the stories I cover.
